Cruise Ships Change Course

Growing into a possible hurricane, Tropical Storm Earl already has forced a dozen cruise ships carrying more than 20,000 vacationers to switch course as it barrels toward some of the Caribbean's most popular islands -- and more itinerary changes could be coming.

The 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream, is reversing the order of two ports in Roatan, Honduras and Belize scheduled for Tuesday, August 31st, and Wednesday, September 1st as a precautionary measure. The Norwegian Epic is being diverted to Roatan as well.

The Carnavial Dream is coming in on Wednesday at Mahogany Bay from 8 am - 4 pm.

The Norwiegen Epic will be in Coxenhole on Tuesday from 9 am - 6 pm.

Earl is a Category 2 storm, and as of this morning, Earl was 25 miles north-northeast of the island of St. Martin, and moving to the west-northwest at about 14 miles per hour. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 110 miles per hour.

A Hurricane Warning is NOT in effect for Roatan, but is in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, St. Martin/St. Maarten, St. Barthelemy, Saba, St. Eustatius, the British Virgin Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Website for the Port of Roatan can be found here.
